The organization specializes in ball sports, functioning as a professional basketball league in Mexico. It was established to professionalize and unify basketball across the country. Operating under a "Franchise-Based Sports Entertainment" model, the LNBP oversees a multi-tier competition structure that includes both men's and women's professional divisions (LNBP Femenil), providing a platform for domestic talent and a destination for international players in the FIBA Americas region.
