News Summary:

The Musée du Louvre recently selected Japanese sanitaryware expert TOTO to equip the restroom facilities of its new Gallery of Five Continents, building on TOTO's existing relationship with the museum, which included an earlier installation in the reception areas beneath the Pyramid. Earlier on June 30, reports indicated that a "New Louvre" project would cost one billion euros, as the museum faces a "deep crisis" stemming from challenges such as a multi-million ticket fraud discovered in February and the theft of jewels from Napoleon's collection in October 2025. Separately, the Louvre partnered with Singapore's Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) to present "Crosscurrents: Masterpieces Of Mughal Safavid And Ottoman Art," an exhibition showcasing exceptional Islamic art, which opened on June 19 and runs until January 24, 2027. Previously, on June 17, the museum's new director informed a Senate committee that the Louvre struggles to attract investment for renovating its aging infrastructure, following a series of problems including a reported US$100 million royal jewellery heist, widespread ticket fraud, and a water leak.
