On 16th December 2022, Microsoft announced the acquisition of Lumenisity Limited, a UK-based company specializing in next-generation hollow core fiber (HCF) solutions. The acquisition aims to enhance Microsoft's Azure-branded cloud computing services by replacing the standard glass core in fiber cables with an air-filled chamber, thereby improving data transmission speeds and security.
