Macom, also known as Macom Technology Solutions, is a publicly owned company headquartered in the US. Founded in 1950, it employs approximately 1,310 individuals. The company specializes in designing and manufacturing semiconductor products, with a focus on Data Center, Telecommunication, Industrial, and Defense applications. While headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts, Macom maintains design centers and sales offices throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
MACOM contributed to an £81 million investment package secured by IQE plc from MACOM and other existing shareholders, which British semiconductor manufacturer IQE confirmed on April 28, 2026, as a plan to support its growth. The investment included approximately £23 million from the redemption proceeds of existing convertible loan notes. Earlier on April 28, IQE plc also raised £13 million by closing its placing and retail offer, issuing shares at 19.8 pence per ordinary share. This overall funding follows MACOM's role as the lead investor, identified on April 27, in IQE's £81 million fundraising. As a global semiconductor manufacturer and longstanding IQE customer, MACOM's investment also comprised a £30 million subscription for 151,515,151 new ordinary shares at 19.8 pence per share.
