On July 31, 2026, BBC Weather announced plans to open a new weather centre at the Met Office's Exeter headquarters, a development stemming from a partnership first established in July 2025 aimed at enhancing the BBC's digital and local services. On the same day, the Met Office published a transparency notice regarding the supply of Motus Wave Sensors, required as needed with a one-year warranty. It also awarded a contract for the development of a validated AMM7 model implementation for UKCI regional ocean modelling, suitable for regional climate simulations of the Northwest European Continental shelf. Previously, on July 29, 2026, the Met Office awarded a contract to the University of Surrey for R2O Maintenance, connected to the "Space Weather Implementation Measurement Modelling and Risk" (SWIMMR) program, a £19.9 million UKRI SPF funded initiative led by STFC that ran from 2019 and largely concluded in 2023. Additionally, on July 29, 2026, it awarded a contract for 26-27 CEDA UKCI Maintenance and Support, which underpins the UK Climate Projections providing crucial information on future climate change.
