On March 13, 2026, the Met Office marked its first year of operating its cloud supercomputing system, hosted in Microsoft Azure, to generate critical weather data, reporting significant efficiency gains. The previous day, on March 12, the agency issued a transparency notice for the procurement of two CL61 Ceilometer Lidars and a separate contract details notice under the Procurement Act 2023 for System & Logger Program Support. Earlier on March 12, the UK Met Office led the launch of the Weather and Climate Information Services for Resilience (WISER) Health project in Nigeria, collaborating with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), the UK Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and the Rockefeller Foundation, with McEnies Global Communications advancing the initiative to integrate weather and climate data into Nigeria’s health sector.
