Michigan Technological University, also known as Michigan Tech, MTU, or simply Tech, is a State Owned public research university based in Houghton, Michigan, United States, founded in 1885 as the Michigan Mining School and operating with approximately 3290 employees. The institution holds distinction as the first post-secondary institution in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
