News Summary:

On March 14, 2025, President Trump issued an executive order that eliminated the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM), resulting in the loss of funding for several international media outlets, including Middle East Broadcasting Networks (MBN), Voice of America (VOA), and Radio Free Asia (RFA). Radio Free Asia suspended most of its Washington-based staff on March 15, 2025, following the funding suspension. On August 30, 2025, Kari Lake, acting director of USAGM, announced 500 layoffs at VOA. Several lawsuits were filed in 2025, including Patsy Widakuswara v. Kari Lake, Michael Abramowitz v. Kari Lake, Middle East Broadcasting Networks Inc. v. USA, and Radio Free Asia v. USA.
