On March 12, 2026, researchers identified a new botnet comprising approximately 14,000 routers, primarily older MikroTik devices, which functions by turning compromised routers into proxy servers to funnel malicious email, effectively bypassing spam filters. Previously, on February 18, 2026, a review highlighted the MikroTik CRS418-8P-8G-2S+RM, describing it as a 16-port 1GbE switch with two SFP+ 10G ports, notable for integrating a Qualcomm Arm-CPU with a Marvell Prestera switch chip and adding PoE+ capabilities. Earlier, on January 16, 2026, MikroTik announced the CRS804 DDQ, a compact 4-port 400GbE switch, marking it as the company's second 400GbE switch offering and a significant evolution in its product lineup.
