Mission Broadcasting, a privately owned company founded in 1996, operates 29 full-power television stations across 26 U.S. markets. Chaired by Nancie Smith, the company's 20 employees generated approximately $10 million in revenue in 2023. Relocating its headquarters from Westlake, Ohio to Wichita Falls, Texas in 2018, Mission's stations are primarily located in markets also served by Nexstar Media Group. A shared services and local marketing agreement exists between Mission and Nexstar, resulting in operational and marketing collaborations that effectively create duopolies in most of its markets. These markets range in size from major metropolitan areas like New York City to smaller ones such as Grand Junction, Colorado.
On June 30, 2025, Nexstar Media Group Inc. announced the successful refinancing of revolving credit facilities, Term Loan A and Term Loan B, for both Nexstar Media Inc. and Mission Broadcasting Inc. This refinancing extended the maturities of the revolving credit facility and term loans and reduced the interest rate margin. Separately, Mission Broadcasting promoted Sharon K. Moser to Vice President and Corporate Controller. Also, WPIX-11, a Mission Broadcasting-owned CW Network station in New York managed by Nexstar Media Group, appointed Ben Dobson as its new News Director, starting July 24.
