On August 26, Monash University announced the appointment of Professor Arthur Christopoulos and the reappointment of Professor Christina Mitchell AO as Sir John Monash Distinguished Professors. Also on August 26, Monash University-led research, published in *New England Journal of Medicine Evidence*, found that metformin, a common diabetes medication, reduces the risk of early and preterm births for mothers at high metabolic risk. Previously, on August 25, American biotech startup CREATE Medicines Inc. finalized a strategic research collaboration and license agreement with Monash University and its Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS), broadening CREATE's delivery toolkit with access to Monash’s novel LNP chemistries and next-generation targeting technologies. Earlier that day, Monash University launched CareerEdge, a new platform aimed at providing personalized, simulation-based career development to every Monash student.
