Monash University recently announced a suite of immediate support measures for staff and students affected by ongoing international instability, including accelerating a scheduled 3.5% pay increase for eligible academic and professional staff covered by the 2024 Enterprise Agreement. The wage increases are now scheduled for April, eight weeks earlier than the previously planned June date. Earlier on April 4, Monash University researchers unveiled how Australia's health system can more effectively use antenatal lifestyle coaching to enhance patient outcomes and mitigate health inequality. Published in *Value in Health*, their study highlighted that targeting resources toward women above the healthy weight range and implementing programs via public hospitals offer the greatest health gains. This follows news from Monash University researchers that they are advancing a new therapeutic approach for Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) through xCystence Bio, a biotechnology company supported by a syndicated pre-seed investment. Launched in 2023 with grant funding from Brandon BioCatalyst’s CUREator incubator, xCystence Bio leverages Monash's expertise in kidney disease biology and medicinal chemistry to develop new therapies.
