National Atmospheric Research Laboratory, also known as NARL, is a state-owned entity headquartered in India. Founded in 1992, it operates with approximately 120 employees. Functioning as a center for atmospheric research, NARL specializes in technology development, observations, data archival, dissemination, assimilation, and modeling. The organization conducts its research activities across seven major groups: Radar Application and Development Group, Ionospheric and Space Research Group, Atmospheric Structure and Dynamics Group, Cloud and Convective Systems Group, Aerosols, Radiation and Trace Gases Group, Weather and Climate Research Group, and Computers and Data Management Group. Additionally, it manages specific projects, including the LiDAR project and the Advanced Space-borne Instrument Development project.
