News Summary:

On February 19, 2026, National Geographic featured Explorer George McKenzie Jr., an award-winning conservation photographer and filmmaker, for his work documenting wildlife, culture, and natural history. Previously, on February 11, Chris Schell's work, which focuses on understanding and celebrating urban wildlife, was highlighted, likely as part of an ongoing exhibition or program. Earlier, on February 4, the Society announced the Explorers Eatery, a new international food hall, will open this summer at its Museum of Exploration (MOE) in Washington D.C. The eatery plans to offer authentic and thoughtfully sourced dishes from five rotating food stalls, starting with American, Italian, Moroccan, Peruvian, and Vietnamese cuisines. This follows the release of educator guides and student handouts on February 3 for "Life on the Move," and on February 1 for "Adventures in Caving," both designed to help students engage with an Explorer's work through the Explorer Mindset Learning Framework.
