National Media Authority (UAE), also known as NMA, is a State Owned entity headquartered in the UAE. Founded in 2025 with approximately 70 employees, the entity reported $7.5M in revenue as of 2023. Functioning as the federal regulator and governing body for the media sector in the United Arab Emirates, the Authority was formed in December 2025 via Federal Decree-Law No. (11). It represents a consolidation of the UAE's media landscape, effectively replacing and absorbing the functions of the UAE Media Council, the National Media Office (NMO), and the Emirates News Agency (WAM). Affiliated with the UAE Cabinet, the NMA is designed to unify the national media discourse, align policies across both federal and local levels, and enhance the country's global reputation through a single, strategic narrative. The Authority maintains full financial and administrative independence while overseeing all media activities, including digital platforms and those operating within the state's various free zones.
