Previously, on May 5, 2026, former News 12 Long Island reporter Amy McGorry, who has been battling two rare autoimmune liver diseases, found a living liver donor when a longtime viewer of the station came forward after seeing coverage of her plea. Earlier, on December 4, 2025, News 12 partnered with MSG Network for the Knicks’ annual Garden of Dreams Night at Madison Square Garden, an event that celebrates local children facing significant challenges. As part of its youth initiative, "The Drop," the station met families in their suites and distributed branded swag bags to participating children.
