Nintendo is a Publicly Owned multinational video game company headquartered in Kyoto, Japan. Founded in 1889, the company has approximately 4400 employees and reported $7.8B in revenue as of 2025.
Nintendo is preparing to release two previously unreleased Virtual Boy games next week, including a title from Fire Emblem developer Intelligent Systems, 30 years after their initial planned launch. Earlier on July 31, Nintendo confirmed a new Nintendo Switch Online update arriving next month, which will expand both its GameCube and Virtual Boy game libraries. Specifically, on August 13, 2026, the 2002 GameCube action title *Super Mario Sunshine* will join the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics library, accessible to subscribers of the Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier. This follows the official launch of *LEGO Party! Nintendo Switch 2 Edition* earlier on July 31, alongside Update 1.6, offering higher frame rates and sharper visuals with a free upgrade for existing owners. A classification for a native version of the title on the "Switch 2" platform was identified earlier in the week.
