News Summary:

Nordic Capital united Qred and Liberis on June 23, 2026, creating a global small and medium-sized business (SMB) financing powerhouse. This initiative aims to address a multi-trillion-dollar financing gap for SMBs, which form the backbone of the global economy, representing over 99% of European enterprises and driving nearly half of all private-sector employment in the United States, amidst a scaling back of conventional commercial lending by traditional banks. Earlier on June 23, Willkie advised FTV Capital on the sale of its portfolio company Liberis, a global embedded finance platform, to Nordic Capital, facilitating the planned combination with Qred, a prominent European digital small business bank. This follows Nordic Capital's acquisition on June 22 of Vestum's pump and water technology business, Flowa, for SEK6.5 billion (€590 million); Vestum had created Flowa earlier this year by segmenting businesses from its Flow Technology division. On June 19, Latham & Watkins advised Nordic Capital on its acquisition of Liberis and further investment in Qred, setting the stage for the creation of this combined SMB financing platform.
