Orbital Research, a privately owned company headquartered in Canada, was founded in 2003 and employs approximately 20 individuals. The company specializes in building frequency converters designed for challenging SATCOM conditions, including extreme weather such as sandstorms and snowstorms.
Orbital Research is set to showcase its latest space-rated RF hardware, including Ka-band and X-band UDCs engineered for CubeSat and SmallSat architectures and radiation-tested RF hardware, at an event from April 13–16. Previously, on March 1, the company released updated measurements of LNB Error Vector Magnitude (EVM), noting that modern high-throughput downlinks demand significantly better linearity than many commercial LNBs provide as Earth-observation missions push to higher data-rates and wider bandwidths. Earlier, the company announced its attendance at SATELLITE 2026 in Washington D.C. from March 23, where it planned to showcase its Integrated Systems approach for optimizing RF chain performance through combined frequency conversion, switching, and network control. This followed its exhibition at MWC Barcelona 2026 in the Canadian Pavilion, announced in January, where Orbital Research focused on Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), highlighting how its RF technologies integrate satellite and airborne platforms with next-generation 5G/6G systems.
