PA Media Group, a privately owned company headquartered in the UK, was founded in 1868 and employs approximately 1060 individuals, reporting $148.7M in revenue as of 2024. The company specializes in media production, maintaining a diverse portfolio of specialist media companies spanning news & information, data, technology, marketing and communications. Its flagship brand, PA Media, serves as the national news agency for the UK and Ireland. It provides customers across the media, sport, corporate, betting and public sectors with content, products and services designed to inform and entertain their audiences.
On July 20, 2026, a trade union condemned PA Media Group's proposal to close its Howden East Yorkshire branch, expressing concern that the move would relocate its northern hub to Leeds and impact generations of journalists trained and supported by the office. This follows the Press Association's proposal on July 17, 2026, to shut its northern hub in East Yorkshire, which opened in 2002, with up to 140 staff set for relocation. Earlier, on July 15, 2026, PA Media Group informed more than 140 employees of their impending relocation from Howden to hybrid roles 47 miles away in Leeds, specifically to West Village on Wellington Street. The Howden office has served as the UK's national news agency's northern hub for over two decades, and a consultation plan for the move is now in place.
