Penn State Network Television, also known as PSNtv, is a privately owned entity based in the US. Founded in 1965, the organization operates with approximately 60 employees. The company specializes in broadcast media production and distribution, encompassing the creation and dissemination of various forms of media content.
On January 26, 2026, WPSU received a $200,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to support the development and distribution of “Spirits of Sovereignty: The Whiskey Rebellion and the Shaping of a Nation,” a 30-minute documentary. This funding follows the station's survival of a closure plan in late 2025. On December 30, 2025, the Penn State board of trustees unanimously approved a revised proposal to sell WPSU’s operating assets to WHYY, a Philadelphia-based public media organization, after previously rejecting a similar plan and facing public backlash. Earlier, on November 30, 2025, WPSU faced a critical juncture when Penn State withdrew its funding, necessitating alternative financial sources to continue providing news and entertainment services to Central and Northern Pennsylvania residents.
