Prysmian Group is a publicly owned company headquartered in Italy. Founded in 1872, the company operates with an estimated 10,660 employees and reported $22.2B in revenue as of 2025. Functioning as a manufacturer, Prysmian Group specializes in electric power transmission and telecommunications cables and systems.
On August 14, 2026, Prysmian, a cabling solutions provider, confirmed an investment exceeding $1 billion and the creation of 385 new jobs to expand its facility in Catawba County, North Carolina, according to Governor Josh Stein. Previously, on August 13, Prysmian announced the North Carolina fiber optic manufacturing expansion would more than double its U.S. fiber optic production capacity and increase total employment at the Catawba County campus to over 1,000 people. This followed the company's broader announcement earlier that day of combined investments totaling more than $1.1 billion across its U.S. manufacturing footprint in North Carolina and Tennessee. Concurrently, Prysmian detailed a $100 million expansion for its Jackson, Tennessee, fiber optic cable plant, which will double the facility's size and add 100 new jobs. Prysmian acquired the Jackson plant in 2018 when it purchased General Cable.
