This confirmation came after Stewart had initially announced on March 21 that the deal was off, despite Pepi having completed a medical and reached a full agreement with Fulham for a summer move reportedly valued at €36 million (£31.3 million). Earlier the same day, sources indicated the $42 million transfer was on hold but not dead, due to disagreements over final details, despite PSV and Fulham having agreed on a framework that allowed Pepi to undergo a medical.
