On June 16, 2026, reports indicated that Telecom Namibia, Angola Telecom, and SATCAB (Satélite e Cabo TV S.A.) signed a Master Service Agreement (MSA) on June 12, 2026, for the Southern African Regional Submarine System (SARSSy), incorporating the Equiano Cable System. This partnership aims to strengthen Southern Africa's digital infrastructure and boost digital connectivity. Previously, on June 15, 2026, further details emerged, specifying the SARSSy deal's goal to deliver 1 Tbps connectivity across Southern Africa. This agreement also aligns with Telecom Namibia's expanded efforts to enhance its regional satellite and subsea cable connectivity with Angola, which includes separate agreements with Angola’s Gabinete de Gestão do Programa Espacial Nacional (GGPEN) and Angola Telecom.
