On March 17, 2026, the Saudi Basketball Federation (SBF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) to establish a comprehensive cooperation framework for electronic basketball. The partnership, signed by SEF CEO Rawan Al-Butairi and SBF CEO Hisham bin Abdullah Qasim, aims to develop Saudi talent capable of representing the Kingdom in international esports competitions. Previously, from July 1 to 3, 2025, the SBF collaborated with the Asian Basketball Federation to hold a workshop in Jeddah focused on upskilling sports statisticians. This course sought to enhance statisticians' readiness for upcoming events like the Asia Cup by training them on the latest developments in sports statistics and approved software updates. Earlier, in May 2025, the SBF participated in the main and subsidiary sessions of the FIBA Congress, which took place over two days in Bahrain and included 168 national federations.
