SGN, a privately owned company headquartered in the UK, was founded in 2005 and employs approximately 2,440 individuals. The company focuses on utilities, specifically operating as a natural gas supplier in South England.
SGN expanded its London office's innovation hub into the floor below the fourth floor of Farringdon’s Nexus Building, following a 2024 design and build fit-out that established the hub as a destination for colleagues. Previously, on August 3, 2026, SGN completed gas works on Botley Road, departing the site ahead of its anticipated August 8 finish date. The completion followed a July delay when engineers discovered three minor leaks in the aging metal gas main during drainage excavations. Earlier on July 31, 2026, SGN (Scotia Gas Networks Limited) was awarded contracts for several projects: the "Scope DES Collaborative Project," a collaborative Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Allowance (VCMA) funded initiative with other UK Gas Distribution Networks to support vulnerable individuals; the "Safe & Warm Grassroot Community Scheme," designed to establish a community-led energy safeguarding network across GDN areas in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainable Energy; and "Cosy Homes for Later Life," a project with GDNs and Age UK to provide practical support for older people across England through shared learning.
