SGN is a privately owned utility company founded in 2005 and headquartered in the United Kingdom. Employing approximately 2440 people, the company's primary business is the distribution of natural gas in southern England.
On September 3, 2024, a customer service hub opened at 3 pm at the Hawkslade Community Centre in Hemel Hempstead to provide electric hotplates and heaters for vulnerable customers. A new mobile tool providing carbon monoxide safety advice and resources was also developed. Separately, a response was published to Ofgem's Draft Determination of the RIIO-GD3 Business Plan, outlining an investment program to maintain a safe and reliable gas network for six million customers across London, the south of England, and Scotland from April 2026. Finally, staff participated in National Inclusion Week on an unspecified date, joining with other gas distribution networks for a diversity and inclusion event in Brighton. A project successfully demonstrated the repurposing of the UK’s gas network to transport hydrogen in Scotland.
