SiPearl, a privately owned French company founded in 2019, designs energy-efficient microprocessors for graphics processing units (GPUs) and artificial intelligence (AI) applications. As a fabless semiconductor company, SiPearl focuses on design rather than manufacturing. In 2023, the company employed approximately 110 people.
SiPearl completed a €130 million Series A funding round in an unspecified week. This funding follows reports indicating that Intel and AMD hold approximately 80% of the data center CPU market in 2024, according to Yole Group. SiPearl's Rhea1 processor, a high-performance CPU for supercomputers, has reached the tape-out stage and will be manufactured by TSMC. The Rhea1 represents a step toward a European alternative in the server CPU market.
