Sistema Estatal de Radio y Television, also known as SERTV, is a state-owned public commercial statutory corporation headquartered in Panama. Established in 1980, with broadcasting roots tracing back to educational closed-circuit television transmissions in 1967 by the University of Panama and subsequent terrestrial iterations from 1978, the modern unified entity was formally established on 28 December 2005 under Legislative Act No. 58. With an approximate employee count of 230, SERTV functions as the national state broadcaster providing broadcast television and radio services, and is considered a tier 1 media tech buyer. The company operates with institutional autonomy and its own legal assets, serving as a non-partisan public utility tasked with producing and distributing cultural, educational, and informational public service media across the country.
