Sony Music Publishing, a privately owned company founded in 1955 and headquartered in the US, is a music publishing house. A subsidiary of Sony Group, it employs approximately 1250 people. Its catalog includes works by numerous prominent songwriters and artists spanning various genres and eras, ranging from classic acts such as The Beatles, Queen, and Michael Jackson to contemporary artists including Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé, and Rihanna.
Sony Music Publishing and Spotify announced a multi-year global licensing deal covering recorded music and publishing, including a new direct licensing arrangement in the US intended to increase songwriter revenue from streaming. On an unrelated matter, Sony Music Publishing appointed Jordi Tello as Managing Director of Iberia, effective immediately. Tello replaced Juan Ignacio Alonso, who retired in August. Tello will manage creative and business operations in Spain and Portugal.
