STMicroelectronics, also known as STMicroelectronics N.V., is a publicly owned company headquartered in Switzerland. Founded in 1987, the company employs approximately 27,400 individuals and specializes in semiconductor manufacturing. STMicroelectronics produces semiconductor products, including analog chips, discrete power semiconductors, microcontrollers, and sensors, supplying chips to the industrial and automotive industries.
On February 22, 2026, STMicroelectronics introduced a space-qualified LVDS driver designed for 600 Mbps satellite data links, aiming to address bandwidth and power constraints in radiation-heavy environments for increased imaging telemetry and inter-satellite communications. Previously, on February 21, the company launched its Stellar P3E automotive microcontroller (MCU), featuring built-in AI acceleration for automotive edge intelligence in future software-defined vehicles. This device simplifies multi-function integration for X-in-1 Electronic Control Units (ECUs) to reduce system cost, weight, and complexity. Also on February 21, STMicroelectronics released its STGAP2SA and STGAP2HSA automotive-grade galvanically isolated 4A gate drivers with a 60ns response time and close part-to-part matching, supporting high switching frequencies for increased power density and efficiency for IGBTs and silicon MOSFETs operating up to a 1200V high-voltage rail. Earlier, on February 20, the company unveiled the VNQ9050LAJ, a 4-channel automotive high-side driver for 12 V ground-connected loads, capable of operating from a 4 V minimum supply and maintaining functionality during cold cranking down to 2.7 V in compliance with LV124 standards.
