Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones de Guatemala, also known as SIT, is a state-owned entity headquartered in Guatemala. Founded in 1996 with approximately 10 employees, the company functions as the national telecommunications regulatory authority of Guatemala. Operating as an autonomous, technical arm of the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing, and established under legislative Decree 94-96 (Ley General de Telecomunicaciones), the institution serves as a public asset manager. It holds legal authority over the administration, registration, and sovereign allocation of the nation's wireless infrastructure and spectrum resources. The commission oversees market entry, commercial network conditions, and compliance metrics, with the objective of fostering open economic competition, digital inclusion, and modern consumer standards across the Guatemalan communications sector.
