Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones de Guatemala, also known as SIT, is a state-owned entity headquartered in Guatemala. Founded in 1996, and operating with approximately 10 employees, the organization reported $1.1M in revenue as of 2024. Functioning as the national telecommunications regulatory authority of Guatemala, the agency was established under legislative Decree 94-96 (Ley General de Telecomunicaciones) in November 1996. It operates as an autonomous, technical arm of the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing, acting as a Studio and public asset manager. SIT holds legal authority over the administration, registration, and sovereign allocation of the nation's wireless infrastructure and spectrum resources, and the commission oversees market entry, commercial network conditions, and compliance metrics to foster open economic competition, digital inclusion, and modern consumer standards across the Guatemalan communications sector.
