This followed news on August 7 that Valencia attacking midfielder Andre Almeida set aside Swansea City as an option, despite Valencia agreeing a fee with the club, as Almeida resisted joining permanently. On August 6, Swansea City confirmed the signing of striker Ross Stewart on a free transfer from Southampton, with the Scotland international signing a three-year deal, a move manager Vitor Matos noted would bring an "experienced and proven performer" to the Championship side.
