Sydney FC is a privately owned entity headquartered in Australia. Founded in 2004, the company employs approximately 150 individuals and reported $8.5 million in revenue as of 2023. Functioning primarily in spectator sports, Sydney FC was established in 2004 as the inaugural Hyundai Australian-League (A-League) club representing Australia’s biggest city, Sydney Football Club.
Sydney FC secured a spot in the Isuzu UTE A-League semi-finals with a 1-0 victory over rivals Melbourne Victory on May 2, 2026. Goalkeeper Harrison Devenish-Meares recorded his 12th clean sheet of the season, while striker Patrick Wood scored the deciding goal. Previously, on April 30, coach Patrick Kisnorbo spoke to the press ahead of their Elimination Final encounter with Melbourne Victory. This followed comments from Apostolos Stamatelopoulos on April 29, who expressed hope that the Sky Blues' attack would find form in the same Big Blue Elimination Final. Sydney FC entered that match having missed the chance to host an Elimination Final after twice surrendering a lead against Auckland FC. On April 26, Auckland FC's Guillermo May scored twice to salvage a 2-2 draw with Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium, a result that meant Sydney FC would play away in Week One of the Finals Series.
