On August 20, 2026, Tacoma Community College (TCC) MESA students completed projects to enhance the TCC Sustainability Garden, located at the south end of Parking Lot K. These improvements, which included a podium, seating area, and new raised half-pipe planters, were planned by the late TCC Sustainability Garden Coordinator Kathy Wright and carried out by students with guidance from retired Engineering and STEM Mentor Michael Hale. Previously, on August 17, TCC established ties with Suseong University in the City of Daegu, South Korea, as part of its commitment to welcoming international students and enriching cross-cultural understandings. This followed the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation awarding $40,000 in scholarships on August 6 to four first-year students in TCC’s 2026 spring cohort of the Radiologic Technology program, supporting their preparation for careers in medical imaging. Earlier, the college hosted its 24th Annual Juried Local Art Exhibition in The Gallery from June 30 to August 20, which also featured a memorial display of work by sculptors Rowena Forde and Jeanette Otis, who had long-standing affiliations with TCC.
