TaskUs, a publicly owned company founded in 2008 by Bryce Maddock and Jaspar Weir in Santa Monica, California, provides outsourcing and offshoring consulting services. The company, headquartered in the US, employs approximately 26,620 people and offers services including content moderation for clients such as Facebook and DoorDash.
Court filings in September 2025 revealed a data breach at Coinbase, affecting over 69,000 customers and resulting in estimated losses of up to $400 million. The breach, which began in September 2024, involved TaskUs employee Ashita Mishra, who allegedly photographed up to 200 records daily and recruited colleagues. A class-action lawsuit was filed against TaskUs, alleging negligence and a cover-up of the involvement of its Indian employees in a bribery scheme to steal customer information. The amended complaint claims TaskUs concealed the breach, firing investigators and failing to disclose details before a $1.6 billion Blackstone buyout.
