TELEIMEDI, also known as IMEDI TV, a privately owned company headquartered in Georgia, was founded in 2001 and employs approximately 190 individuals. Specializing in broadcast media production and distribution, the company operates as a national broadcaster and a prominent private TV channel in Georgia, having been established as part of Imedi Media Holding.
On April 8, 2026, Georgia’s Communications Commission (ComCom) issued written warnings to four television channels, including pro-government Imedi TV and POSTV, and government-critical TV Pirveli and Formula, citing “violations of principles of impartiality” under the country’s Law on Broadcasting. Previously, on March 2, the Georgian government instructed its banks to ignore UK sanctions that froze the assets of two pro-government channels, including Imedi TV, which were sanctioned for allegedly spreading "Russian disinformation." These channels subsequently announced plans to establish their own banking operations. On February 27, Imedi TV specifically announced its intent to launch an “Imedi Bank” within months, backed by its “loyal friends and sponsors,” asserting it would have "no kind of problem including financial" despite the UK sanctions. This development followed the resignation of four out of five members of Imedi TV's supervisory board on February 25, one day after the UK announced sanctions against the channel. The resigning members included former owner Irakli Rukhadze, along with Giorgi Bakhtadze, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, and Davit Shonia, who cited an earlier change in ownership.
