Television City, also known as CBS Television City, is a privately owned US-based entity. Founded in 1952, the company operates with approximately 600 employees. Functioning as a production facility, it has served as the master control facility for CBS's west coast television network operations since 1961, having previously been based at CBS Columbia Square. In 2018, CBS sold Television City to the real estate investment company Hackman Capital Partners while continuing to exclusively lease its space.
On July 6, 2026, Television City partnered with Orbital Studios to establish a new virtual production studio at 7800 Beverly Boulevard in L.A.'s Fairfax District, featuring an LED volume designed to provide virtual production experiences for various productions. This collaboration followed Orbital Studios' relocation of its headquarters, LED walls, and virtual production research and development lab from the L.A. Arts District to the historic Television City lot earlier that day. Previously, on June 17, 2025, Television City, under owner Hackman Capital Partners, announced a partnership with Interwoven Studios. This initiative offered "boutique production facilities," production services, and studio amenities for social media influencers and other digital content creators, aiming to adapt to a production slump in California by opening its soundstages to digital formats.
