The Industry LA, also known as The Industry, and legally as The Industry Productions Inc., is a non-profit organization headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 2010 by MacArthur Fellow and director Yuval Sharon, the organization operates with approximately 10 employees, functioning as an independent, artist-driven opera production company and creative studio. It serves as an incubator for contemporary musical theater, experimental staging, and interdisciplinary collaborations. The Industry focuses on expanding the traditional boundaries of opera by creating large-scale, site-specific world premieres designed to engage audiences in unconventional civic spaces. Its production portfolio includes Crescent City (2012), the wireless-headphone opera Invisible Cities performed inside LA's Union Station (2013), Hopscotch—an opera staged across 24 moving cars throughout Los Angeles (2015)—the historical pageant Sweet Land (2020), and The Comet / Poppea (2024).
