The University of Georgia (UGA) is a public research university located in the U.S. state of Georgia. It was founded in 1785 and is the oldest public university in the state. UGA is a state-owned institution with an enrollment of over 39,000 students and a faculty and staff of over 13,720. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including business, education, engineering, law, and medicine. UGA is also home to a number of research centers and institutes, including the Georgia Museum of Art, the Peabody Museum of Natural History, and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
