Tonal partnered with Johnson Commercial Fitness on September 22, 2026, to introduce its Tonal 2 intelligent strength training system to commercial fitness facilities across the United States. This commercial expansion builds on Tonal’s existing relationship with Johnson Fitness & Wellness, which offers Tonal 2 to home fitness customers. Previously, on July 30, 2026, Tonal launched its "Tonal Rent" program, offering its smart strength machines for a monthly fee instead of an upfront purchase. This rental option marks the first since the company's 2015 debut and represents a pivot toward affordability under new CEO Todd Bartee, a former private equity partner. This followed OxeFit Inc. filing a lawsuit on July 29, 2026, seeking a Delaware federal court’s judgment that its XS1 Peak and XS1 Flow all-in-one fitness machines do not infringe a Tonal Systems Inc. patent for video-gaming-assisted strength training. Tonal's counsel had earlier sent OxeFit's legal department a letter alleging the tablet in the XS1 products infringes a U.S. Patent.
