Tropico Rural, a privately owned company headquartered in Costa Rica, was founded in 2023 and operates with approximately 10 employees. Established by filmmaker Carlos Gómez de la Espriella and environmentalist practitioners Irene Burgués Arrea and Mario Carballo, the company functions as a private commercial independent film and audiovisual production entity based in the regional hub of Santa Cruz, within the Nicoya Peninsula of the Guanacaste Province. It utilizes a flexible network of field technicians and environmental researchers to document the ecological heritage and changing rural landscapes of the intertropical zones.
