On September 8, 2026, Eutelsat announced it secured further connectivity business in Greenland, playing a key role in the Enhanced Satellite Connectivity Project for Greenland alongside the European Union, Greenland's government, and Denmark's government, aiming to bring reliable connectivity to rural and remote communities. Earlier that day, telecoms operator Tusass confirmed its participation in the same project, stating it will provide more robust and stable internet connections. The project launched at Eutelsat's ground station in the presence of European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, Greenlandic prime minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen, and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. This development follows Greenland's 2024 prohibition on the direct use of Starlink for local consumers, which established a state telecommunications monopoly managed by Tusass, requiring users to depend on its services. Previously, on August 24, 2026, Tusass selected Danish systems integrator Itectra, a Nokia/Infinera Expert Partner acquired by NetNordic in January 2026, to supply submarine line terminal equipment for its Greenland Connect and Greenland Connect North subsea cable systems.
