Uganda Broadcasting Corporation

Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, also known as UBC, is a State Owned entity headquartered in Uganda. Founded in 1963, the company employs approximately 360 individuals. Its main product is broadcast television and radio, and it functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer. Established under the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Act of 2004, the corporation was formed through the structural merger of Uganda Television (UTV) and Radio Uganda, officially commencing consolidated operations in November 2005. Fully owned by the Government of Uganda and overseen by the Ministry of Information, Communications Technology and National Guidance, the organization operates under a statutory mandate to provide nationwide radio and television coverage that promotes socio-economic development, civic education, and cultural unity. Its media infrastructure includes a television network comprising channels such as UBC TV, Star TV, Magic 1, and U24, alongside a radio network of over ten stations broadcasting in English, Luganda, and dozens of regional languages across localized transmission networks.
