Paramount Global plans to divest its Universal Pictures distribution venture to ease EU antitrust concerns over its proposed $110 billion merger with Warner Bros., according to an announcement on June 25. Earlier, on June 24, Universal Pictures made a strategic marketing decision for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film *The Odyssey*, opting to bypass early word-of-mouth influencer screenings in favor of a direct critical rollout. This followed a June 24 report that discussed the cancellation of Madonna’s biopic, which Universal Pictures had been developing for years. Madonna previously revealed on June 23 that a budget disagreement with Universal Pictures caused her long-awaited biopic to fall apart. Earlier in the week, on June 22, Jim Carrey and director Ron Howard were reportedly in talks with Universal Pictures to develop a sequel to their 2000 holiday classic *How the Grinch Stole Christmas*.
