On Tuesday, September 15, 2025, Universal Pictures, along with Walt Disney Co. and Warner Bros. Discovery, filed a lawsuit against MiniMax, a Chinese artificial intelligence company. The lawsuit alleges copyright infringement, claiming MiniMax's AI service generates characters such as Darth Vader, the Minions, and Wonder Woman without permission. This action follows a similar joint lawsuit filed earlier by the three companies against MiniMax for copyright infringement related to characters including Darth Vader and Mickey Mouse.
