The University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss, is a state-owned institution headquartered in the US. Founded in 1948, the university employs approximately 4,980 individuals and focuses on higher education. The institution also fields 14 Division I NCAA teams, including sports such as football, basketball, golf, and soccer. Furthermore, Ole Miss Sports Productions manages video and broadcast distribution, producing highlight packages for various athletic events and press conferences.
On June 24, 2026, eleven University of Mississippi students began building partnerships with Mississippi communities as part of the Catalyzing Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (CEED) Initiative, a program under the Grisham-McLean Institute for Public Service and Community Engagement. Previously, on June 16, Ole Miss coaches, student-athletes, and leaders, including Pete Golding, commenced the Rebel Road Trip, visiting fans throughout the region this summer. Earlier in June, on the 15th, University of Mississippi researchers released findings from a new study uncovering mechanisms behind plant adaptation to rising global temperatures, specifically focusing on how plants respond to heat stress at a molecular level. Also on June 15, Ole Miss softball freshman Madi George ranked No. 58 in the nation on Softball America's final 2026 individual player rankings.
