The University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss, is a state-owned institution headquartered in the US. On May 1, 2026, the Ole Miss softball team secured a 3-2 victory over No. 16 Mississippi State, with Kennedy Bunker hitting a walk-off homer and two home runs, reaching safely in all four at-bats at the Alisa and Mark Bourne Stadium. The Rebels currently hold a 31-23 (5-18 SEC) record. Earlier on May 1, the University of Mississippi initiated its Move Out Donation Drive, a community-driven program encouraging students to donate gently used clothing, furniture, electronics, and dormitory items to benefit the local community during the move-out season. Previously, on April 30, the university's women's basketball program announced Adrienne Motley as an assistant coach. Motley arrived in Oxford from Penn State, where she spent three seasons as Director of Player Development, contributing to the Lady Lions' WBIT Final Four appearance and their best overall record in 10 years. Also on April 30, Ole Miss track & field prepared to conclude its outdoor regular season, with one athlete competing at Mississippi State's Maroon and White Tune-Up and the main squad heading to Baton Rouge for the LSU Invite.
