The University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss, is a state-owned institution headquartered in the US. Founded in 1948, the university employs approximately 4,980 individuals and focuses on higher education. The institution also fields 14 Division I NCAA teams, including sports such as football, basketball, golf, and soccer. Furthermore, Ole Miss Sports Productions manages video and broadcast distribution, producing highlight packages for various athletic events and press conferences.
Ole Miss track & field's distance squad broke two school records and achieved several personal records at the Stanford Invite on April 2, while the Rebel team competed at LSU's Battle on the Bayou. On April 1, the university scheduled Mississippi Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Gertrude C. Ford Ole Miss Student Union Plaza, the Circle, and Business Row, offering a free, public event with shuttle services. Earlier on April 1, Ole Miss coach Pete Golding responded to Clemson's Dabo Swinney's two-month-old public accusations of tampering regarding the acquisition of linebacker Luke Ferrelli, with Golding stating, "There’s two sides to every story." This follows a March 27 event where students marked the future of the University of Mississippi’s Early Learning and Evaluation Center by leaving prints on a beam for the $30 million-plus project, which is expected to open in early 2027. Previously, on March 30, the university announced that Brett Young will deliver the commencement address at its 173rd Convocation, scheduled for 9 a.m. on May 9 in the Grove, for the Class of 2026.
