The University of Rochester, also known as UR, is a privately owned institution based in Rochester, New York. Founded in 1850, and employing approximately 10,530 individuals, UR functions as a private, nonsectarian, research-intensive university that grants bachelor's, masters, and doctoral degrees through seven schools and various interdisciplinary programs.
On September 18, 2026, the University of Rochester will conduct several events across its medical and academic divisions. UR Medicine Orthopaedics & Physical Performance will offer free orthopaedic health screens for Strong Memorial Hospital employees from 8:00am to 12:00pm EDT, a service provided every Monday and Friday. Following this, UR Medicine will host a mobile mammography breast cancer screening event from 9:00am to 3:00pm EDT at 2300 West Jefferson Rd, Pittsford, NY, targeting women aged 40 and above without existing breast problems. The Center for Integrated Research Computing (CIRC) will also hold its symposium from 11:30 am to 1 pm in Wegmans Hall 1400. Concurrently, the Department of Psychiatry plans a virtual open house for its Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy program from 12:00pm to 1:00pm EDT, one of several sessions for those interested in careers assisting families with relationship or mental health challenges. Additionally, a virtual information session for the DNP and PhD nursing programs will occur from 12:00pm to 1:00pm EDT, informing prospective students on pathways to address healthcare challenges.
