Uzbekfilm, also known as JSC "Uzbekfilm" or Oʻzbekfilm, is a state-owned enterprise headquartered in Uzbekistan. Founded in 1925 as Sharq Yulduzi ("Eastern Star") in Tashkent before being officially renamed Uzbekfilm in 1936, the company operates under the administrative oversight of the Cinema Agency of Uzbekistan (O'zbekiston Respublikasi Kinematografiya Agentligi). Functioning as the principal state-owned motion picture studio, production facility, and cinematic legacy archive of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uzbekfilm is recognized as the oldest and largest film studio in Central Asia. The company primarily functions as a film production, dubbing, and archival holding enterprise focused on entertainment content rights, rather than a linear television broadcast company, producing feature films, historical epics, animated series, and documentary features for domestic theater networks and television syndication.
