Vatican Media, a privately owned entity headquartered in Italy, was founded in 2015, employs approximately 100 individuals, and reported $33.6M in revenue as of 2023. The company functions as a tier 2 media tech buyer, specializing in media and TV services, operating the Vatican's television productions, its news portal (Vatican News), and radio station.
On March 6, Capuchin friar Father Roberto Pasolini, the preacher of the Papal Household, delivered the first Lenten Sermon, addressing conversion and the path of humility, with Pope Leo in attendance. According to Vatican News, these sermons will continue every Friday until March 27, focusing on the theme: “If anyone is in Christ they are a new creation (2 Cor 5:17).” Previously, Pope Leo XIV, the Chicago-born pontiff, urged Catholic priests to resist the "temptation" to use artificial intelligence for sermon writing. During a closed-door meeting with the clergy of the Diocese of Rome on February 19, Pope Leo XIV advised clergymen to "use your brains more," emphasizing that "like all the muscles in the body if we do not use them if we do not move them they die," and delivered a pointed message that artificial intelligence has no place in the pulpit.
