Virgin Australia is a privately owned Australian airline headquartered in Brisbane, founded in 2000. Initially operating as Virgin Blue with a limited fleet, it rapidly expanded following the 2001 collapse of Ansett Australia, becoming a significant player in the domestic market. Currently employing approximately 5,540 people, Virgin Australia operates a large fleet and offers a business model blending low-cost carrier principles with some full-service airline features. It is one of two airlines using the "Virgin" brand, and is larger than Virgin Atlantic in terms of fleet size.
