Vocus activated a 2000km fibre route on June 22, 2026, extending from Perth through the Mid West to Port Hedland, establishing a new digital backbone for significant mining regions. This route provides an initial capacity of 38 terabits per second, scalable to over 90 terabits per second, to meet increasing data demands from miners and regional industry. Earlier, on June 18, Vocus upgraded its Adelaide-Perth 2 (AP2) fibre route, quadrupling its capacity and introducing native 400 Gbps services alongside existing 100 Gbps services. This upgrade, which followed an earlier enhancement to the Adelaide-Perth 1 (AP1) route in 2025, integrates both links into a dual-system optical platform spanning 2700 kilometers, enabling 400G coast-to-coast services between eastern Australian cities and Adelaide and Perth.
