On August 14, 2026, Reform UK accused Vodafone of "facilitating migrant invasion" and threatened to review the mobile network operator's public contracts, following Vodafone's defense of distributing free mobile phone SIM cards to asylum seekers. Earlier the same day, Vodafone and Telenor deepened their relationship with an international voice outsourcing deal, under which Vodafone Procure & Connect (VP&C) will serve as the operational gateway for Telenor's inbound and outbound international voice traffic for its Nordic markets, including Telenor Norway, Telenor Sweden, DNA Finland, Telenor Denmark, and Telenor Maritime, replacing Telenor Linx services. Also on August 14, the Shared Rural Network (SRN) rollout extended 4G coverage to UK national parks, with over 150 4G mast upgrades live in areas such as the Yorkshire Dales and Eryri Snowdonia, providing extended coverage across more than 5,684 square kilometers in regions previously served only by EE or lacking coverage entirely.
