Earlier, on June 23, 2026, the transfer of WPSU to Philadelphia-based WHYY was nearing a major milestone, over nine months after Penn State's board of trustees approved a plan to end its decades-long ownership of the station and shut it down by June 30, with a deal expected to be finalized by that date.
