WHYY will host a Democratic primary debate for Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District on Wednesday, April 29, offering voters an opportunity to hear from candidates ahead of the May primary election, with the debate airing live from WHYY’s studios. Previously, on April 16, WHYY explored political and cultural divisions in the United States, presenting content that discussed how the Declaration of Independence defined "the people" while excluding Indigenous Americans and enslaved Africans. This follows WHYY’s Bridging Blocks holding the first day of its third annual Civic News Summit on April 3, which brought together journalists, students, and community leaders to tackle AI misinformation. The annual Civic News Summit, scheduled for April 3 and 4 at WHYY headquarters, focused on trust and truth while exploring the future of local news. Earlier, on March 16, WHYY announced it would honor Nobel Peace Prize laureate and activist Malala Yousafzai with its Lifelong Learning Award on April 14, 2026.
